JAMES (JIM) S. FISHER Peacefully, on July 29, 2001 at the Concordia Hospital, James S. Fisher passed away at the age of 81 years. Jim was predeceased by his wife Rita. He leaves to mourn his memory, daughter Barb (Tom) Bodner of Winnipeg, his sister-in-law Nancy Cox, and several nieces and nephews. Jim was born on May 10, 1920 in Glasgow, Scotland. He witnessed the launching of the Queen Mary Vessel and served proudly for Britain in the R.A.F. from 1939 to 1945. Later he met Rita and in 1952 they married. They both settled in Canada in 1953. He worked for C.P. Rail for 30 years and retired in 1985. Jim was involved in bringing "Operation Life Saver" to Manitoba. He also ran C.P. Rails safety program for school children until his retirement. He loved to travel with his daughter, Barb. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) at 2:00 p.m. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Glen Lawn Reception Centre.
