ALLAN ROBERT McDOUGALD Allan Robert McDougald, passed away at Boissevain Health Centre, November 6, 2001. Allan was born March 21, 1943. Some geographical moves in his early life included Winnipeg, Manitoba and points in Alberta. His parents Roy and Winnifred McDougald settled in Souris, MB and Baldur, MB area during Allans early youth to adult years. In 1968 Allan married Sharon (nee Maloney) of Manitou, MB. They were married at Baldur, MB United Church. A move to Morden in 1968, then Boissevain in 1969, and remained there until his passing, November 6, 2001. Allan is survived by wife Sharon; two children, 1969 Robert Reed (Chandra) of Rouleau, SK and 1972 Jennifer Lynn (Kelly) Vancauwenberge of Portage la Prairie, MB. Predeceased by his father Roy Ormond McDougald August 1998. Survived by his mother Winnifred McDougald, Brandon, MB; and one sister Margaret (Gerry) Benoit, Winnipeg, MB. Allans main interests throughout his life were many types of sports, he participated in a great many, also fishing, baseball (Morden Mavericks), hockey, football (Baldur High School), curling, stock car racing, flying remote control airplanes. His greatest love was earning his private pilots license and eventually owning and flying his own plane. Allans other interests and community involvements included Masonic Lodge member, volunteer firefighter and ambulance attendant. For those that knew him well, we admired his remarkable ability for memory and detail from mechanics to household hints. For Allan, reading and crossword puzzles were a steady pass time. Allans long term memory for people hed met from boyhood to present day was excellent. Unfortunately, in October 2000, Allan was diagnosed with progressed Esphogeal Cancer and related problems. Surgeries, Chemo Therapy and great determination gave Allan an added year of life until finally November 6, 2001 there was no more pain. Funeral service following cremation was held at St. Pauls United Church, Boissevain on November 9. Rev. Harvey Hurren officiated. Killarney & Boissevain Funeral Homes Ltd. in care of arrangements. And I will raise you up on an eagles wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of my hand.
