LORNE STUART SMITH giant of a man at 64", we thought he could withstand anything, but mortal like the rest of us, he succumbed to complications from Shy Drager Syndrome. We are devastated by the loss of him, the void created by his absence, the world never the same without him. He died Monday, November 26 with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis for 58 years and a source of joy, happiness, humour and great love to his children, Janne Young, Lorrie Grice (Jim), Cathy Grant (Charles), Rick (Karen) and Barry (Helen). He made storytelling an art form -- a mirthful raconteur who loved telling and hearing a good yarn and sharing a laugh. Bright, articulate and affectionate, he was a wonderful grandfather who cherished his grandchildren, Debbie, Jodi, David and Geoffrey Young, Sean and Shannon Smith, Kelly and Lindsay Grice, Jamie and Zachary Smith, Breanne, Alex and Mackenzie Grant. He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Elicia, Gregory and Ryan Smith. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held by his loved ones at a future date. "I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again." A KIND AND GENTLE MAN
