Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNON PETER SMITH Mr. Vernon Peter "Vern" Smith, aged 75 years, died in the Red Lake Hospital on Friday, November 30, 2001. Born in Winnipeg, Vern was educated there and played junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He moved to Red Lake and became Terminal Manager for Kingsway Transport, retiring 10 years ago. Vern is survived by his children, Garry (Patricia) of McCreary, MB, Bob (Barb) of Brandon, Vern Jr. (Sandie) of Winnipeg and Darryl (Destiny) of Red Lake; by grandchildren, Rob, BonnieLee, Chris (Michele), Jody (Kevin) and Linden; great-grandchildren, Brody, Branden, Krista, Dalton and Courtney; sisters, Sharron Schick and Mildren Wagner, both of Winnipeg; his first wife Helen of Brandon and second wife Irene of Red Lake, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Dolores Coleman and Brenda Smith. A memorial funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Red Lake Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brian Falkenholt officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at a later time.
