THOMSON Surrounded by her family at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, Grace Gillis Thomson passed away December 4, 2001, at the age of 104 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, in 1979, and her four sisters and brother. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Merl Voakes and son-in-law Orval; two beloved grandchildren, Frederick Grant (Cindy) Voakes and Leanne Grace (Kent) Gowler; and two precious great-grandchildren, Quinton and Madelyn Gowler. Grace was born March 13, 1897, in Elie, Fifeshire, Scotland. She married Fred Thomson in 1925 and came to Canada as a bride. Grace loved her home, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was known for her shortbread, which was given to many people throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Broadway First Baptist Church. Special thanks to Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their excellent care over the past six years, and to Norman Pound for his faithful visits throughout the years. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m. in Broadway First Baptist Church, Honeyman and Walnut, with the Rev. Fred Rupert officiating.
