PEARL LANE (SEDOR) (nee ZABOWSKI) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pearl Lane our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, at the Riverview Health Centre on December 12, 2001, at the age of 60 years. Pearl was predeceased by her infant brothers; grandparents; parents, Peter and Katherine Zabowski; husband Jack Andrew Sedor on October 19, 1977; and brothers-in-law, Joseph Wilgosh and Stanley Botchar. Pearl leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 20 years, Clifford Lane; daughters, Janet Lange (Chuck) and Jacqueline Sedor (Neil Sookoo) stepsons, Daniel Lane (fiancee Tamara) and Trevor Lane; grandchildren, TJ and Christopher Lange and Nitara and Keara Sookoo; sisters, Mary Wilgosh, Frances Botchar, Florence Bosko (Tony) and her brother Edward Zabowski (Wilma) as well as many nieces and nephews. Pearl was born on June 30, 1941 in Pine Ridge, MB. She moved to Transcona in her early childhood where she remained until her marriage to husband Jack in 1959. During the first 13 years of their marriage, Pearl and Jack resided in several small communities in rural Manitoba, most notably McCreary and Rossburn, where Pearl made many lifelong friends. In 1973, they returned to Transcona to live. In 1981, Pearl married husband Clifford and they continued to make their home in Transcona. When her children were young, Pearl was primarily a homemaker and was actively involved as a volunteer in the rural communities in which she lived. Pearl was also an avid curler during this period. When she returned to Transcona to live, Pearl began to work outside the home. She was employed at Woolco Pharmacy for a number of years, in food services at New Flyer Industries, as a Menu Clerk at St. Boniface Hospital for 13 years and, prior to her illness, she had been employed by the WRHA-RDF. Pearl and husband Clifford were actively involved as dancers in the Swedish Pavilion at Folklorama for a number of years, enjoyed camping and had a mutual love of flowers. Pearl loved and lived her life to the fullest. She valued people, looked for the best in everyone and was always there to extend a helping hand to her family and friends alike. Pearl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She took great pride in her home and in her work. Pearl also loved flowers and enjoyed flower arranging and crocheting, making many an afghan for both family and friends. Throughout her long and courageous battle with cancer, Pearl displayed tremendous strength of character, integrity and dignity. She had endless hope, constant faith and a great sense of humour. Pearl never faltered in the care and compassion she showed for others, despite the enormity of her own struggle with cancer. An exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she shall be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the exceptional staff of ward 3E at Riverview Health Centre for their genuine care and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations made to CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated. A prayer service will be held December 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Funeral mass to follow on Monday, December 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 425 Rosseau Ave. E., with Fr. Roland Lanoie officiating. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
