JOHN SHEWCHUK Peacefully, after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 at Concordia Hospital, John Shewchuk, beloved husband of Lidia. John was born in selo Brusno Nowe, povit Lubachiw, W. Ukraine and came to Canada October 9, 1948. He was employed at M & S Meat Market for 16 and one-half years and Avenue Meat Market for 14 years, retiring in 1979. John was a member of St. Andrews Parish and the Seniors Club of the parish, Point Douglas Seniors and Institute Prosvita. Left to cherish Johns memory are his wife Lidia (Oksana), her family and sister Maria in Ukraine, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Maria in 1979; sisters, Katherine Buksak and Rosalia Kostiuk. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 21 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 22 at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave., with Rev. J. Holowaty officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Concordia and Seven Oaks Hospitals for the compassion and care given to John.
