ROELINA (LIEN) VEENSTRA (WESTERIK)
Date of Passing: Dec 25, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROELINA (LIEN) VEENSTRA (nee WESTERIK) Peacefully in her sleep, it is with deep sorrow that I must announce that my mother, Roelina Veenstra, passed away at the age of 84 years and four days, on Tuesday, December 25, 2001. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Jennine Veenstra (John) of Winnipeg, brother-in-law Geert, sister Jenny (Riekus), and brother and sister-in-law Henk and Annie, all in the Netherlands, special brother Berend (Anne) in Winnipeg, and sister Biny in Vancouver. Also "Tante Lien" will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews in the Netherlands, Canada and the U.S. She was predeceased by her husband Gerben on October 22, 1998. Also, father Berend, mother Jenny, brothers, Benard and Johan; and sister Aaltjie, all of the Netherlands. Born December 21, 1917 in Balkbrug, The Netherlands, Mom immigrated to Canada in 1951, where she met and married Gerben in 1955. Both were lifelong members of the Transcona Christian Reformed Church, where their faith remained strong in the Lord God Almighty. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and lived on the outskirts of Transcona and then Dugald where she and Dad enjoyed country life and gardening throughout their retirement years. Mom loved to crochet and knit and other "handwerk" until her eyes no longer allowed her to do those things, due to the complications of diabetes. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside Dad. Together they will live in the House of the Lord forever. Flowers would be appreciated and/or donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stoke Foundation. May God hold you in the Palm of His Hand "Tot ziens" GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
