Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT JAMES BEVERLEY (BEV) ROME June 3, 1922 - January 2, 2002 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear grandfather, father and friend, Bev Rome. Bev was born in a brick farmhouse in Nesbitt, Oakland Municipality, MB. He attended Chesley and Nesbitt schools until the age of 16, when he obtained employment with Vulcan Iron in Winnipeg, MB. During the Second World War, Bev served with the R.C.A.F. as an airframe mechanic in Trenton, ON. Following the war, Bev began work as a compositor for the Winnipeg Tribune: a position he held proudly for 25 years. In 1971 Bev built and began operating the Big Eagle Car Wash in Nanaimo, BC. Retiring in 1980, Bev devoted his retirement years to family, also enjoying fishing trips, gardening and golf. Bev was predeceased by his parents JB and Jenny Rome; first wife Bernice; sister Kathleen; brother Morley; sons, Donald and Richard; and second wife Helen. He is survived by his son Gerald of Nanaimo, BC; daughter Janie (Brent) Morrison of Courtenay, BC; grandchildren, Emily and Cole Morrison; sister Mary Ellen Howard of Fountain Valley, CA; brother Bruce (Jane) of Kamloops, BC; sister Marjorie Oliver of Brandon, MB; and numerous nieces and nephews. No service, at Bevs request. A private family viewing has taken place. Interment of cremated remains at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or charity of your choice.
