Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE KUSHNIR It is with great sadness that we announce that Annie Kushnir passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2001 at Betel Home, Gimli, at the age of 96 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Dolores (Ray) and grandson Ron; as well as her many nieces and nephews and their families. Annie was predeceased by her infant daughter Mary in 1927; husband Michael in 1982; son-in-law Carl Znakowski in 1982 and her daugher Olga in 1993. Mom was born in the Malonton area September 15, 1905 and it was here that she met and then married Michael Kushnir on February 10, 1925. They moved to Gimli in 1942 where they owned and operated a general store for many years. Annie and Michael were founding members of the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church and were well known and respected in the area. Annie was an enthusiastic member of the church choir for as long as her health allowed, but her love for hymn singing was also in evidence throughout her ten year participation in the Betel chapel services. Mom will be especially remembered as being a hard worker, a gracious hostess and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. The family would like to thank Dr. Chapnick and all the wonderful nurses and staff of the Betel Home, who provided exemplary care for Annie. We would also like to thank them for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time. There was a special place in Moms heart for her nephew Donald Hladum in California, her nieces Elsie Wyspinski of Selkirk and Phyllis Hill and Stella Krezanski of Gimli, all of whom have been tremendously supportive throughout her time of need. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, with Rev. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment will be held in the Fraserwood Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Betel Home, Gimli, MB. Rest In Peace Dear Mother Vichnaya Pamyat Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
