BERYL PATRICIA GUY (nee TITHERIDGE) On Sunday, December 30, 2001, at the age of 70 years, Beryl Guy passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beryl will be sadly missed and remembered by her family in Winnipeg: Bill Guy, her husband of 45 years; her daughter Cathie (Dennis) Pickerl; sons, Rob and David (Nellie) Guy; grandsons, Andrew and Riley Pickerl, and Travis and Eric Guy; granddaughter Madeline Pickerl; and by her family in British Columbia: brother Bill (Norma) Titheridge; and nieces, Susan McAllister and Lynn Powell. Beryl was a very caring and thoughtful person who always put her family and friends needs before her own. She will be treasured for her gifts as hostess, cook, athlete, nature-lover, gardener, and for her warm and sensitive consideration of others. Beryl was a pitcher for the St. Vital Tigerettes for ten years, and was part of this womens senior-league softball team in Winnipeg when it won the Manitoba Championship five times between 1946 and 1955. She curled at Valour Road Curling Club for over 15 years. Beryl was an active member of Oxford United Church, since 1957. Beryl spent her summers at Farlane, ON with family and friends. She had a high sense of adventure: cooking for crowds on the woodstove, hikes, canoeing, blueberry picking and kids gatherings are legendary. We will all miss her positive attitude and enthusiasm for life. Our family wishes to express our sincerest thanks for all the medical support she received during her illness. We send special thanks to her home care nurse Myrna Brownley, Dr. Heidenrich, the Victoria Hospital Oncology Department, and the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care team. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 2:00 p.m., at Oxford United Church, 621 Oxford St. (Oxford and Fleet). In lieu of flowers, donations in Beryls memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or to a charity of ones choice.
