Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE MAY KITCHEN (nee TOMALIN) March 30, 1943 - December 25, 2001 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Irene Kitchen on Tuesday, December 25, 2001. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Left to mourn are her husband Bob; daughter Corri (Chris) of Grand Prairie, AB; son Tim; brothers, George (June), Reg and Gerald (Renie) sister Marj Marsh; sister-in-law Marie (Dar) Alford; brother-in-law Don (Dolores) Kitchen; many nieces and nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by parents, Arthur and Sarah Tomalin; parents-in-law, Ted and Rae Kitchen; brothers-in-law, John and Tom; and sister-in-law Donna. Irene was employed with Galloway, Lapchuk and Nicholl for over 30 years. She married Bob in 1971, and they lived on the farm until her passing. Irene was one who gave to many in her very quiet way. Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, December 29 at Knox United Church, Oakville, MB, with Judy Limpright officiating. Winona Otsuji sang "Amazing Grace" and "One Day at a Time" with Marie Alford presiding at the organ. The Community Choir led the congregation in singing the hymn "In the Bulb There is a Flower". In attendance as a group were staff from Galloway, Lapchuk and Nicholl. The family had a private interment at Oakville Cemetery and then joined their guests at the Oakville Community Hall for the reception served by the Oakville UCW ladies. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Irenes memory to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8 or to Sunset Palliative Care, Inc., Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A7. God looked around His garden And found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful He only picks the best. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Irene by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who were entrusted with the arrangements, (204) 857-4021.
