SARA KLASSEN (nee FALK) Passed away peacefully Saturday, January 5, 2002 at the age of 92 at Bethania Nursing Home in Winnipeg, MB. Sara was born September 1, 1909 in the village of Steinfeld, South Russia to Mary and David Falk. She immigrated to Canada in 1923 along with her parents and brothers and sisters to the Altona, MB area. The family later moved to Arnaud, MB and then on to the Westbourne, MB area. Sara married Herman Klassen on October 2, 1932 and they began their lives together on a small farm, first in the Culross area and later at Elm Creek, MB where they remained to raise a family of eight children, two sons and six daughters. In 1968 after Sara had recovered from a very serious stroke, they decided to sell their farm at Elm Creek and move to Steinbach. Here they enjoyed their retirement years in their own home until the passing of Herman in 1979. At that time, the family home was sold and Sara moved to the Fernwood Place where she enjoyed living in the friendship and fellowship of the Steinbach Mennonite Church family. She leaves many good friends and Bible Study partners at Fernwood to mourn her passing. Mom was very interested in her family her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
