Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADOLF LEONARD HOLM Passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at the age of 95 years at Gimli Betel Home. Adolf was born in Winnipeg, May 30, 1906. He grew up near Otto, MB. After completing school, he took a course in barbering in Winnipeg, worked there for a time, then from 1930 to 1939 in Gimli. He was employed at the RCAF base for three years and from 1942 to 1950 at transporting mail and express from the CPR Station in Gimli. Adolfs main interest and aptitude however was in the healing of animals. He worked at the Brian Memorial Animal Hospital as a technician and part of this time he was employed by the Provincial Government for technical work in animal husbandry. He worked independently serving the Interlake retiring at the age of 82. Adolf was an active member of the Gimli Chapter of the Icelandic National League, the Gimli Rotary Club and New Horizons Seniors Centre for many years until his admittance to Betel Home in 1998. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Marie, his daughter Sylvia of Michigan, sons, Roy of Lethbridge, Oswald (Shirley) of Hamilton and Robert (Caroline) of Victoria; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as brothers, Arnold (Carol) and Daniel (Thelma) sisters, Lilja and Helga; also many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Oswald in 1929 and Bernard in 1990; two brothers-in-law, Cameron Mann and Joe Sigurdson. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Gimli Betel Home for their excellent care and kindness.
