BARBARA (BABS) CLAIRE MEYERS Peacefully, at her residence, with her family by her side, Barbara (Babs) Claire Meyers passed away on December 2, 2001 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Babs will be lovingly remembered by her husband Lyall of 31 years; her two children, Michael and Laura and her sisters Marsha (Stan Udow) and Beaty (Wally Kane). Babs was predeceased by her father and mother, John and Lillian Gorsky. Babs was a gentle, loving, kind and patient soul who was a best friend to Laura and Michael. She was a true model of unconditional love and acceptance. This was especially evident in her love for her children, both of whom she adored and cherished. All those who were fortunate enough to work with her in both her chosen profession and volunteer capacity benefited immensely. Babs was especially proud of her executive roles with ORT and National Council of Jewish Women. Her love for music and education was evident in her devotion to teaching grade one and music at Harrow School. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, officiated by Rabbi Allan Green and Marvin Slutchuk. Pallbearers were Wally Kane, Morley Jacobs, Ronny Kane, Marvin Slutchuk, Marc Meyers and Neil Baker. Honorary pallbearer was Garry Levinson. The family wishes to express their most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Doctor Kim Minish for her tireless efforts. We also wish to thank the wonderful care provided by her home care workers, Diane, Gloria, Karen, Kelly, Minerva, Susan, Tijen, Trudy and Chris. Finally, to our friends and family, "thank you" cannot fully describe our deep appreciation. Memorial donations may be made to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, C400 - 123 Doncaster, Winnipeg R3N 2B2.
