Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABELLE EDITH KOWALCHUK Suddenly at White Rock, BC on Wednesday, December 19, 2001, Mrs. Isabelle Kowalchuk, aged 66, passed away. Isabelle was born in Brandon, MB on March 22, 1935 to Rubina and George Mac Douell. She was raised by Blanche and Gordon Irwin in Portage la Prairie. Isabelle received her grade 12 education in Portage and then moved to Winnipeg where she completed her registered nursing at St. Boniface Hospital in 1957. On November 1, 1957 Isabelle married Ronald Kowalchuk, and they lived in Moose Jaw, SK until they moved to Shoal Lake in 1959. While living in Shoal Lake, Isabelle devoted many years to nursing at the hospital and Morley House Personal Care Home, where she was the director of nursing. In 1990, Isabelle moved to White Rock, BC. While living in White Rock, Isabelle volunteered as a worker at the R.C.M.P. Victims Services in Surrey. Isabelle was an avid reader; she enjoyed playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband Ron, who passed away in 1994. She is survived by one son Gordon, his wife Gerri and two grandchildren, Kirstyn and RJ of Dauphin. One daughter Colleen and her husband Robert and four grandchildren, Nikolai, Stefan, Kaitlyn and Madeline, of North Vancouver, BC. She also had many nieces, nephews and extended family members. The funeral service was held at the Westminster United Church, Shoal Lake, on December 28, 2001. Raes Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements. Donations can be made to the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Isabelle will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
