ADA MAUDE FARMER September 21, 1912 - January 19, 2002 It is with deepest sorrow the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Ada Farmer (nee Tremeer) at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. She was born in Manitou, MB, September 21, 1912. She married Ernest Farmer, April 4, 1938 when they moved to Portage la Prairie and in 1939 they moved to the Balmoral area where they farmed until 1996, then retiring to Stonewall. Ada was a great sports enthusiast, cheering on her daughter when she represented Manitoba in lawn bowling as well as local baseball and hockey teams especially when her grandchildren were playing. She also enjoyed 15 years of lawn bowling with the Tuxedo Lawn Bowling Club, several years of five-pin bowling in Stonewall where she also served as secretary of the Thursday Senior Bowling League for some 12 years. Mom will always be remembered for her great vegetable and flower gardens and her utmost generosity to family and friends. Ada was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Tremeer; and brother Melvin Tremeer. She is survived by her husband Ernest, son Mervin (Luella), daughter Myrna (Russ) Oliver, nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held in the Stonewall United Church on Friday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Best officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stonewall United Church, Box 1099, Stonewall, MB, R0C 2Z0 or a charity of ones choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
