NICHOLAS HUBERT PIROTTON (NICK, NICKIE) With quiet acceptance, Nicholas Pirotton died in the early hours of January 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; daughter Pam; and son Gerry (Denyse) as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Nick was predeceased by daughter Wanda in 1999. Like his father, Nick was a stonemason by trade. In the early 50s he and Phyllis established Brookside Memorials where he remained until his retirement. A strong belief in giving to the community and his compassion for those less fortunate, Nick spent 20 years volunteering in various areasmainly full time at the St. Vital YMYWCA. Twice weekly he took time to deliver Meals on Wheels to seniors. Christmas was more meaningful to him by working in any capacity at the Christmas Cheer Board. An early riser, he also assisted Winnipeg Harvest by picking up baked goods from local stores, and vegetables from farmers along the highway from his cottage in St. Francis Xavier. In accordance with his wishes there will not be a formal service. The family welcomes friends who wish to join them to reminisce and share memories of Nickies life at an 11:30 a.m. brunch on Sunday, January 27 at the Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Rd. Special thanks to the staff of Lions Manor Personal Care Centre and Lions Manor Adult Day Club as well as the friends and associates who have shown their concern and support to the family. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, in keeping with Nicks values, a donation may be made to the South Winnipeg Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.C.A., 5 Fermor Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2M 0Y1, or a charity of your choice. "And there shall be in that rich earth a richer dust concealed." Rupert Brooke LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
