PHYLLIS RUTH RICHARDS (JONES) Born 1917 in Minneapolis, MN. Died in Toronto at age 84. Phyllis passed away quickly, as she would have wanted, on December 6, 2001. Daughters Trudie and Andrea and son Jim remember her unfailing joy at being alive, her lifelong passion for learning, her generosity of spirit and her tireless energy. Phyllis grandchildren - Andrew, Casey, Dean, Jarren and Jeffery - will miss the active role she played in all parts of their lives - and her cinnamon rolls. The sun rose and set on her brother Frank and her late sister Florence. Phyllis was proud of her American roots and rarely missed a meeting of the American Womens Club. Although she attended university in the United States, Phyllis grew up in Winnipeg, where she married and raised her children. The family moved to Toronto in 1956. Phyllis worked in sales for most of her adult life, and was active in the volunteer community as well. After retiring, Phyllis had more time for the Living and Learning Program at York University, her book groups, and her bridge games. In fact, the morning she had her stroke Phyllis was getting ready for her Tuesday morning bridge game with the girls. The family would love to hear from her Winnipeg friends.
