CHRISTINE V. STE MARIE Surrounded by the love of her family, Christine passed peacefully on January 24, 2002. Christine was born in Edmonton, AB, on February 26, 1953. After a few moves, the family settled in Winnipeg in 1965. Christine and Stan Werle married in 1989. After living in Regina, SK, they moved to Brandon in 1994 with their two children. In 1995, Christine was treated for breast cancer. As a testament to her love for life and other people, Christine became actively involved in the Canadian Cancer Societys Reach for Recovery program. As a fighter from the beginning, Christine joined the breast cancer survivor Dragon Boat teams in Brandon and Winnipeg. She thrived as part of these rowing teams, and the many special friends she made gave her strength. Christine was a loving mother and wife. She had strong family values and always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. She cared deeply for all of the people in her life, and in the hearts of all, this will leave behind a warmth that only Christine could impart. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 12 years, Stan; and her young daughters, Sarah and Chloe. Very special memories will be cherished by her parents, Fred and Irma Ste Marie; her siblings and their families, Don and Pauline, Reg and Joanne, Audrey and Dave Roberts, Joan Ste-Marie and Catherine Chatterley; Stans mother Margaret; Stans siblings and their families, Tom and Maxine, Jim and Elsie, Roy and Nancy, Hazel Werle and Jeff Morin. She will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank the Health Sciences Centres SICU team for their compassion and care of Christine. We would also like to thank the neurological surgical team for their efforts. The memorial service in celebration of her life will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m., January 28, at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
