DOREEN THOMPSON / WILLIAMS (nee GLADU) On Thursday, January 24, 2002, Doreen passed away peacefully at the Grace General Hospital, following a brief illness with cancer. Doreen was predeceased by both her husbands, her mother and father Katherine and Albert Gladu, her sisters, Jean, Martha, Ida and Pauline; and her brother Bill. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Gail) Pool (Earl) of Phoenix, Carol (Ron) Alexander, Valerie (Keith) Johnson, and Penny (Claude) Trudel; her son Herb (Isabel) Williams all of Winnipeg, her son Bruce (Patti) Williams of Vancouver and step-son Terry Thompson of Stettler, AB; stepdaughter Marlene (Glen) Chalmers of Winnipeg; sister Irene Reid of Palm Springs, CA; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was born January 13, 1926 and raised in Winnipeg. She married Herb Williams and raised six children. Later, she married Harold Thompson and they moved to Penticton, BC. They returned to Winnipeg in 1988 to be near their family. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. The family thanks all the staff on the 5th floor at Grace Hospital for the care and compassion given Doreen. DEAR LORD Put your arms around her Hold her in your tender care Make up to her for all she suffered And all she had to bear. She went through so much in silence Her spirits didnt bend She faced her pain with courage Until the very end.
