Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESE MONNEY (nee GAULTIER) August 28, 1930 - January 26, 2002 Therese was born in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathurine Lancelot and Eugene Gaultier; as well as by her brothers, Desire and Pierrot. Therese leaves to cherish her memory, Albert Monney, her husband of 51 years; her only child, Nannette with husband Michael Langedock; her precious grandkids, Colin, Cameron and Chad; and many special friends both in Winnipeg and at the lake. Therese moved to Winnipeg in her early teenage years where she worked many odd jobs such as the laundry department at the St. Boniface Hospital, and hairdressing, to name a few. Her longest place of employment was at Modern Dairies where she quickly gained the reputation as an extremely hard worker and caring friend. In 1960 Therese and Albert began building their cottage - la chaumiere - located in the Lac du Bonnet area. It would be later enlarged many times and renovated for retirement. Many enjoyable weekends and holidays were spent there until finally, in the summer of 1983, they would call it home. Although Therese continued working occasionally for Tall Timber Lodge, she found time to enjoy the things she loved. Summers were spent gardening, blueberry picking, visiting with the neighbours or simply watching the fun in the lake. During the winter months shed spend her time sewing, baking wonderful treats for her growing grandsons and sitting down to write her thoughts. On a beautiful day, she especially liked trekking off into the woods to cut down a tree and add it to the wood pile. Her special time of the day, regardless of the season, was at dawn when shed sit by the window, her cup of tea in hand and watch nature wake up. She would often have a story to tell us about what she saw. Therese certainly spoiled us all and is sadly missed. Her mission in life was to please others and to make sure they had everything they needed. She lived her life that way till the very last minute when she let go peacefully knowing that her family could no longer bear the pain of not being with her. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Many thanks to Dr. Cummings and the Oncology Department at the Victoria Hospital for their care, compassion and "wigs dont fly" sense of humour.
