ROBERT EDWIN CLARKE March 10, 1928 - January 27, 2002 On the morning of January 27, 2002, the angels came and took our beloved father home. Peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with illness, Robert closed his eyes in eternal rest. By his side was his loving wife and soulmate of 48 years, Dorothy. Robert also leaves to mourn six children, Reg (Linda), Donna (Morley), Margaret (Fred), Kim (Kevin), Wanda and Maxine (Gil) as well as 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Robert was born in Winnipeg on March 10, 1928 and moved to the Grosse Isle area with his parents, Harry and Margaret Clarke in 1932. He took up farming with his parents before joining the Winnipeg Police Service in 1953. After spending seven years with the Winnipeg Police, Robert decided to devote his life to his family and farm. With the help of his wife, he built a successful dairy and grain operation. Robert took great pride in developing his purebred Jersey herd and became a well known and respected Jersey breeder, selling cattle to other farms across Canada, the United States and Mexico. Roberts family wishes to thank the homecare workers for the kind and compassionate care they all gave him during his last weeks. According to his wishes, Robert will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall on Thursday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ted Hicks will officiate. The service will conclude at the chapel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Miller, Bob Miller, Brian Meads, Hugh Turbett, Charlie Lindsay and Charlie Aime. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, they may make a donation to the Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of ones choice. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not to long and not with your head bowed low Remember the love we once shared Miss me but let me go For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone Its all a part of the Masters plan a step on the road home So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me but let me go. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
