ROBERT GENDRON Peacefully, with his parents at his side, our beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandchild, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2002, at St. Boniface General Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. Left to mourn Roberts passing are his parents, Maurice and Irene Gendron; sister Carol (Paul) Casavant; sister Rachele (Mark) Humphrey; brother Luc (Christine Bretecher) and his grandmothers, Eleonore Gendron and Alice Pinette. He will also be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews: JaNet, Justin, Alex, Cole, Jordan, Arielle, and Haley. Robert will forever fill a special place in the hearts of his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Maurice and Irene thank his special friends, Kelly Mitchell and Richard Kozar, for the comfort and caring they provided Robert before and during his illness. Also, a very special thanks to Roberts "right hand man" Uncle Denis Pinette for the special time he spent with Robert. Roberts life was filled with joy and friendship. An avid sportsman, he loved nature spending many days enjoying hunting and fishing with his friends. A race enthusiast, he developed a love for sports cars, Formula racing, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. His competitive spirit shone around the pool table where he competed in a Vegas league. But what Robert enjoyed most in this world was his family and friends. He had a talent for understanding and sharing in peoples joys and sorrows. This talent earned him a wide network of friends and served him well in his chosen career where he was able to use his people skills. In 1990 he bought in to the family business, Pembina Autobody and Glass, managing its operations with his father. On January 12 of this year, Roberts friends and family joined him in celebrating his 42nd birthday. Over 500 people came to celebrate this joyful time with Robert. The highlight of this party, was that through the generosity of donors, Robert was able to make donations to his two special charities: CancerCare Manitoba, and The Childrens Wish Foundation. We thank all the generous people that helped with this fundraiser, and also thank the many that came and made this a special evening for Robert. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Roberts life at 7:00 p.m. on February 1, at St. Timothy Parish Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd., St. Vital. Funeral mass will be presided by Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will hold a private interment at a later date. The family also thanks the following people that cared for Robert through his illness: Dr. Philippe Erhard, Dr. Joel Loiselle, Dr. Fiona Crowe, Dr. Gary Schroeder, and the wonderful staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roberts memory to CancerCare Manitoba, The Childrens Wish Foundation, or Rose Inc. (Ste. Rose du Lac, MB). "You will be in hearts forever. We love you.
