LEON KURTZ Leon Kurtz died at home Wednesday, January 30, 2002. He was 79 years old and is survived by his wife Rita; sister Minnie Zalik; brothers, Arnold and Maurice and their families. Born in Poland, Leon came to Canada at the age of six and attended Aberdeen School and St. Johns Tech. For over fifty years, he was a furniture manufacturer and was known and respected as a hardworking man of integrity and generosity of spirit. He lived life on his own terms, never asking for more than he needed to sustain it. Those that knew and loved him will remember his sound counsel and his willingness to lend a hand. The funeral was held on Sunday, February 3, 2002. Donations in his memory may be made to the Yale Aaron Lampe Memorial Fund, Winnipeg Foundation or to the Robert Steen Day Hospital, Riverview Health Centre. Special thanks to Ruth Gervais and Pat Power for their friendship and support, which he treasured. He will be remembered as a loving and caring individual with a wonderful sense of humour.
