DAVID JOHN GROOM It is with deep sorrow we announce that on the evening of Wednesday, January 30, 2002, Dave, our dear husband, father, son and friend passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre with family at his side. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife Maryanne and his son Brendan. He is the cherished son of Dorothy and John Groom; brother of Lynore (Daniel) Adams and Vivian (Dale) Crawford. He will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Theresa and husband Ronald. Also left with wonderful memories are his many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Dave was born in Winnipeg on October 27, 1947. At the time of his passing, Dave was employed with the Winnipeg Sun and prior to that, the Winnipeg Free Press. Dave loved all animals, especially his two dogs, Teala and Kelsey, and had a particular fondness for eagles. His greatest love and pleasure was his family. He was devoted to his son Brendan and they shared many common interests, including their love of cars. Despite the heavy toll of his illness, Dave remained a constant source of love, support and courage, even in the closing days of his life. He was an inspiration. Thank you to Louise and home care givers who supported Dave while at home. A special thank you to Dr. Kirk and the wonderful nurses and staff at Riverview for their care and compassion to our family, as well as to Dave. According to Daves wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. "Dont be afraid... Its only falling asleep in one world and awakening in another." Rest in Peace, Dave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
