ANTONIO CASTANEDA CASTRO It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Antonio Castaneda Castro at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, February 1, 2002 at the age of 81 years. Tony was born and educated in the Philippines where he spent a long and rewarding career as member of law enforcement in Makati. He arrived in Winnipeg in 1981. He spent some pre-retirement years as a Commissioner. He was an active member of the Filipino community serving as past president of the Filipino Canadian Seniors Association and as a director of FILCASA Housing Co-op. Tony will be remembered by his wife Filomena Castro; children, Guia (Rodolfo) Alvaran, Mina (Dave) Bell, Roger (Dhadha) de Leon, Gilda (Nestor) de Leon-Sangcal, Zenaida (Felix) Facundo and Reynaldo (Linda) Castro; grandchildren, Joji Alvaran, Mari-Ann de Leon, Nikki de Leon, Raymond Burdios and Rod Bell; and many relatives and friends in the Philippines, Canada, USA and Australia. Lamay (viewing) will be on Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 818 Arlington St., with Reverend Father Vic Tungolh presiding.
