SVERRE MARTEN (SAM) ROED It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Sverre Marten (Sam) Roed at the age of 92. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sigurlin; his sons, Chris (Donna) and Mark; daughters, Ingrid (Marc) and Deborah; and grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris), Heather, Jon, and Leanne. Sam was predeceased by his parents, 14 brothers and sisters, and his son Lyle (Kate). Sam enjoyed a long, active and very full life. Born in Norway in 1909, he came to Canada in 1928. Sams lifes work was his company, Superior Roofing, which he and his partner operated until his retirement in 1979. In his leisure time, Sam loved dancing, curling, and golf and the companionship of his many friends at the Norwood Legion and the Belgian Club. Although physically active, Sam was a quiet man who hid his virtues. He often took time from his busy schedule to spend time with others who were ill or disabled. We offer special thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their kind and caring treatment. Services will be held at First Lutheran Church, Sargent and Victor, on Tuesday, February 5 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sams memory may be made to First Lutheran Church.
