MARIA GIESBRECHT It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of Maria Giesbrecht on Wednesday February 6, 2002 at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. Born on August 19, 1959 in Chihuahua, Mexico, she is survived by her husband Abe D. Giesbrecht; her children, Abe and his fiance Tamara, Mary, Ike and his wife Rhonda; parents, Isaak and Katrina Fehr; as well as five brothers and four sisters and their families. At the age of 10 years Maria and her family moved from Mexico to Gretna. In 1977, at the age of 17, upon confession of her faith, she was baptized and later that year she married her husband in the Altona Rhineland Mennonite Church, enjoying 24 years of marriage together. Maria enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, and gardening, but she enjoyed being with her family the most. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Grace General Hospital for their tireless efforts and compassion. More thanks go out to all the family and friends for their support during this hard time. Viewing will take place at the Morris Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, and from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9.
