HELEN VELMA ROSS With great sadness we announce the passing of Helen on Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the age of 81 years. Helen was predeceased by her husband Art in November of 1981. She is survived by two sons, Ted (Gail) of Grosse Isle, MB, Walter (Michele) of Fort Whyte, MB; three granddaughters, Tracey (Raymond) Ozuk of Winnipeg, Kelley (Kyle) Sigurdson of Warren, MB, and Kerry (Jason) Kaplar of Warren, MB; and three great-grandchildren, Coral and Keegan Sigurdson and Danyon Kaplar. She will also be missed by her brothers, Lorne Keeler and Art (Ethel) Keeler of Brandon, MB; her sisters, Doris Veit of Minnesota and Grace Morrison of British Columbia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen and Art were married in 1943 and lived most of their married life in Winnipeg. Helen worked for 10 years for the Provincial Government of Manitoba. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Queen Winnipeg Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an active member of the Daughters of the Nile, Sphinx Temple No. 116. As per Helens request, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with the Reverend D. I. Wilson officiating, followed by an Eastern Star Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
