Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANIBAL JOAO MARIA March 28, 1932 - February 6, 2002 With great sadness, and after a long and courageous battle of multiple health complications, the family announces the passing of Anibal Joao Maria on February 6, 2002, surrounded by his family at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 69. His memory will be forever cherished by his lifelong partner and wife Isabel of 41 years along with three daughters, Fatima Nechwediuk, Grace Maria (Bob), and Paula Arnason; son Vasco Maria; granddaughter Mandie Nechwediuk (Cory) grandson Paul Nechwediuk (Jessica) two great-grandchildren; a very special friend Allison; two sisters, Maria of Winnipeg and Carma of Portugal; numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Jose Maria in 2001. Anibal was born on March 28, 1932 in Portugal and grew up there until he decided to immigrate to Winnipeg in 1957 to support his family. He worked as a construction worker for BACM for 40 years until his retirement. He always found pleasure in cooking, barbeques and drinking beer with his family and friends. Anibal especially loved hunting and shooting pool with his friends. Right to the end with all his pain and suffering he still put his familys needs first. Throughout Gods trials and tribulations you held a warm and gentle smile to ease our pain. The family expresses sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor, Concordia Hospital for your care and compassion. Also a special thanks to the ICU for all your efforts. Prayers will be held on Friday, February 8, at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. "You were always there when we needed you" No task too great or small With a loving heart and a willing hand For us you did them all. Thanks for the years you gave us, And for the precious times we shared, We only pray when you left us You knew how much we cared. God saw you getting tired.
