Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID JOSEPH CASTEL David Joseph Castel was born Wednesday, September 3, 1941 at Granville Lake, MB to Paul Castel and Maggie Bighetty. He attended school until grade 4 at Sturgeon Landing, SK. Throughout his life he lived in Thompson from 1964 until 1975, Leaf Rapids 1976 until 2001, and Winnipeg 2001 until January, 2002. David was united in marriage with Rosa Charlette, Tuesday, March 31, 1964 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Pukatawagan, MB. Some of the different jobs he had were fisherman (ice/net), bush pilot, railroad lineman, Inco control room operator, crusher leader/HBM&S. David enjoyed the outdoors, camping, picnics, hunting, fixing small engines and motors, building a cabin, socializing with family and friends, teaching and telling stories. He started to learn traditional beliefs. David passed away Saturday, January 19, 2002 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, aged 60 years. He is survived by children and grandchildren, Terry (Castel) and Lance Grey, Austin, Ian, Carman, Fay Castel and Sheena, Vincent, Jeannine, Rosalynn, Edwin, Adrian Castel and Isiah, Ronda, Leon, Wyhatt, Katherine, Wayne, Josie, Minnie Castel and Robert, Zachary, Corby, Riely, Sidney, Yvonne, Ronald and Michelle Castel, Skylar, Kalvin, Breanna, Ronnie; brother Sidney Castel; sister-in-law Mary (Charlette) Villeneuve (Donald) as well as many other relatives and friends. David was predeceased by his wife Rosa (Charlette) Castel; sons, Micheal Saul Castel, Sidney Wayne Castel; brother Eustach Castel; sisters, Harriet (Francois) Castel and Maryjane (Francois) Castel. A funeral service was held Tuesday, January 22 at Leaf Rapids Town Center, with Rev. Noel Belanger presiding. Wake services were held Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24 at Pukatawagan. The funeral service was held Friday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pukatawagan. Interment took place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pukatawagan. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, were in care of arrangements. 623-3261.
