WALTER SCHMIDT Walter Schmidt, late of Winnipeg, passed away February 5, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Originally from Neudorf, SK, Walter moved his family to Winnipeg where he worked at Motor Coach Industries until his retirement in 1986. Shortly after that, a brain aneurysm left him in the care of St. Norberts Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. This was his home until his passing. Walter was predeceased by his parents, his daughter Delora, and a brother Ernie. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lillian; one son Randy (Sheila) of Sherwood Park, AB; two grandchildren, Trent and Trena of Sherwood Park; two brothers, Eddie (Winnie) Schmidt of Neudorf and Gordon (Gladys) Schmidt of Winnipeg; five sisters, Evelyn of Melville, Olga of Melville, Marjorie (Otto) Bieber of Neudorf, Adeline (Roy) Youck of Lloydminster and Clara (Walter) Schweitzer of Neudorf; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 16 at 2:00 p.m. from Christ Lutheran Church, Neudorf, with the Rev. Vivian Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, Saskatchewan.
