Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERA OLIVE KEELEY (nee BROUGHTON) It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Vera Olive Keeley on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 74 years of age, at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. Vera is survived by her sons, Alfred and Lorne; her daughters, Gail and Lynn; her grandchildren, Darwin, Sean, Terrilyn, and Gerald; sisters, Mary and Florence; son-in-law Douglas Jackson; and daughter-in-law Marlene; two nephews and two nieces. Her husband Alfred and her brother William predeceased her. She was born in Cadillac, SK on May 14, 1927. Vera served for a short time in the Womens Army Corps at the end of the Second World War. In 1948 she married her husband Alfred in Rivers, MB. Over the next 17 years she lived with her husband and family in Montreal, Winnipeg, Soest, Germany and Petawawa, ON. In 1965, she retired with her husband to Ninette. For the past five years she has been living in Winnipeg. Vera was a very creative person with a wide variety of interests and hobbies which ranged from writing poems and childrens stories, studying history and anthropology and spinning wool, designing patterns and knitting. She contributed to the book "Riverside Heritage 1896 - 1996" by searching through past municipal records and writing some of the text. Vera also loved animals, and taking walks in the countryside. Her underlying strength was a constant support to her family. She will be greatly missed. A private family funeral service was held on Monday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. at Sharp Boulevard.
