KATHERINE (KATE) SPORT (nee SMADYLA) Peacefully after a lengthy illness on Saturday, February 9, 2002, Mrs. Katherine Sport, aged 87 years entered into eternal rest, at the Fred Douglas Lodge. Katherine leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law William Boyechko of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Dave Boyechko, Pat Komula (Kevin), Wade Boyechko (Brenda) and Beverly Boyechko; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Simmons and Elsie Yakimicki, both of Ontario. She was predeceased by her loving husband William in 1964 and her beloved daughter Dorothy Boyechko in 1990. Katherine was born on Wednesday, December 2, 1914 in Moose Bay, MB, where she resided until 1966 when she moved to Winnipeg. She was employed at Health Sciences Centre until her retirement. Panakhyda will be sung on Tuesday, February 12 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Knysh Funeral Chapel.
