Was a McMaster social work student placed with Mr. Smee when he was director of Secretary of State in 1974. Met him several more times when I booked rooms for his Conservor Society at the Library in the 80's & in the 90's when I sought his career advice. He was always very honest, constructive & his heart & the community's heart were the same. Once when I was in charge of a community project & was contemplating whether to let someone go, he gave me very objective, professional advice. I did not want to fire the person due to a personality conflict. He told me to assess their work against their job description. I did & kept the person.
