MARY LOUISE (LOU) KNAPP (nee McMURRAY) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lou Knapp, with family by her side on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Stonewall Hospital, at the age of 72 years. After a lengthy illness and a courageous fight Lou has now found peace. Lou leaves to cherish her memory Alan (Al), her loving husband of 51 years; her children, grandchildren and many close friends. Lou was employed by National Cartage, where she met her husband Al. When their first child was born Lou left her office job to become a stay at home mom where she and Al, built a family business, Als Towing, and later Craneall which they operated for some 45 years. While the children were in school she was active in the church and the community. Lou was very frugal, and as treasurer of the local community centre was able to save the first monies towards building the present recreation centre. Lou loved music, singing in the choir, and got great enjoyment listening to her daughters and their friends sing. In latter years Lou has not been in good health, however her sense of humour was with her to the very end. In keeping with her wishes of cremation, and no funeral, a celebration of her life will be held at the Stonewall Legion Hall on Friday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. To the Doctors, Nurses and all the healthcare workers, words can not adequately express our gratitude for the tender care, and concern that was freely given to Lou. Thank each and everyone of you, and may God bless you. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in Lous memory can be made to the Stonewall and District Hospital or a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
