MURRAY MESSNER Murray Messner, a widely known member of the Canadian broadcasting industry, passed away suddenly in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 79. Murray started his career at the age of 17 at CFAR, Flin Flon, MB in 1942, as an announcer/writer. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 until 1946. He joined CJOB in March 1946 as a writer/salesman. Murray joined his father Tony to form A.J. Messner & Co. Ltd. in 1957. He served as Vice-President, Southern Manitoba. He retired in 1980. Murray and his wife Isabelle, spent 23 years in Mesa, AZ. In 1992 they moved from Winnipeg to Kelowna, BC. Murray was well-known in Winnipeg having been a member and Past-President of the Sales and Advertising Club of Winnipeg, member and Past-President of the Dale Carnegie Alumni, member and Past-President of The Latin American Association of Winnipeg, member and Past-President of the Winnipeg Glider Club and a member of the Half Century Club of Canada (Radio). Murray is survived by his wife of 52 years and a cousin Eddie/Ruthi of Riverside, CA. He was predeceased by his mother Dinah and father Tony; uncles, Tommy and Charles Murray. Murrays personality and wit will always be remembered by his many friends. In his many years wintering in Mesa, he was involved in just about every activity including President of the Tenants Association at Holiday Village. He was always willing to help in any situation. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. At Murrays request, there will be no funeral. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
