LEONARD RUSSELL HAMABERG February 16, 1923 - February 14, 2002 On February 14, with his loving family by his side Leonard peacefully died after battling a lengthy illness. Left to cherish memories and countless good times are his best friend, soul mate and wife of 54 years Louise, his son Bill (Val), his daughters, Sharon Waluk Green (Ken), Carol Larson (Bill), Debbie Stuski (Bob), and Peggy Davie (Larry) his daughter-in-law Fern Hamaberg; his grandchildren, Rhiannon, Tammi, Danny, Nicolas, Kyle, Jodi, Kelsey, Andrew, Samantha, and Kirsten; his great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Braiden, and Jordan; his brother Courtney (Eleanor) his sisters Florence (Jim), and Olive (Roy) his godson Robert Hamaberg; his extended grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Violet, infant brother Howard, brothers, Roger and Bob; and son-in-law Richard Waluk. Born in the Norris Lake area of Manitoba, Leonard spent his earliest years there before leaving to join and serve his country proudly overseas during the Second World War. After his five years of service with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division he returned to wed his newfound love Louise Ferguson. Following the years at war he spent much of his time farming north of Teulon for the next 42 years. Once the retirement years rolled around he moved into the town of Teulon and developed a new pastime, spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with an endless supply of loonies and toonies, chocolate bars and unconditional love. We will never forget one bit of yesterday and time will never erase the love we had for a great man, know to us as Dad, Grandpa and Papa. No one can ever take your place, our hearts and minds, our bodies and souls have been so blessed time and again with you in our lives, we love you and we will miss you forever and always, right till the end of time. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Pastor Barry Rasmussen will officiate. Interment will follow at Norris Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family desire, donations may be made to the Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
