ALFRED GRUENKE Alfred Gruenke was born June 28, 1914 in the Rural Municipality of Morris, MB. At age four, he moved with his parents to their farm near Emerson, where he remained until he retired in 1976. Upon retiring he moved to Morris where he continued to cultivate his love for the outdoors, nature and gardening for almost 20 years, until he lost his eyesight. For the past five years he lived in Winnipeg with his wife of 53 years, Emma, in close proximity to their only daughter, Maxine. He enjoyed listening to the radio, especially classical and country and western music, and remained physically active to within three days of his death. He was the last of his generation of the family of Emil and Mary Gruenke. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20 at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Morris. Flowers are gratefully declined.
