ROBERT THOMAS EMERY Passed away suddenly on Monday, February 18, 2002. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gerty, son Terry (Jane Scott) and daughter Dianna (Roy Hall). Bob is also survived by his siblings, Rose Kovach of Kipling, SK, Doris Dunn of Stouffville, ON, John Emery (Clara) of Kamloops, BC, Ethel Campbell (Lyle) of Stonewall, and Steve Emery (Marie) of Shawnigan Lake, BC. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Stephan and Eva Emery of Riding Mountain. Bob was born on the family homestead in Glenella on September 4, 1929. After leaving school, he bounced around until 1952 when he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. as an air frame technician, serving the first of his two tours in Europe as a single man from 1953 to 1955. After his return home, he met and married Gerty. With his wife and now two children, subsequent postings included MacDonald, Toronto, 3-Wing Germany, Portage la Prairie and finally Cold Lake, AB, when he retired in 1974. He started a second career at Bristol Aerospace in 1977 to 1989. The house at Riding Mountain finally became home base but Bob and Gerty loved to travel around, visiting family, friends and people they wanted to meet. Bob could never pass up an opportunity to meet someone new. A highlight of Bobs retirement was their extended holiday back to England, Germany and other places in the Spring of 2000. Bob was never one to sit still - always looking for something to putter with or someone who needed a helping hand. Bob was a man of quiet faith who enjoyed fellowship. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Riding Mountain Legion, with interment to follow at Riding Mountain Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to East View Lodge New Building Fund, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0. Dobchuk Funeral Home, McCreary is entrusted with arrangements.
