ANNIE EWANEK On Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at Holy Family Nursing Home, Annie Ewanek, aged 93 years, beloved wife of the late John Ewanek. Annie was born in the village of Mlyne, district of Yavoriw, W. Ukraine. She immigrated to Canada in 1937, residing in Winnipeg until her demise. In her younger years, Annie and John operated a rooming house where she enjoyed being a "den mother" to the young people coming through. She was a longtime member of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Parish. Left to cherish Annies memory are two sons, John and wife Myrna of Winnipeg, Lawrence and wife Diane of Vancouver; five grandchildren, John (Shannon), Arlin (Holly), Mary-Anne, Christopher, Amanda; two great-grandchildren, John Paul and Axel; nieces, nephews and relatives in Ukraine. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 22 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Munroe at Watt with Rev. D. Kawiuk officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the many kindnesses and services provided by the staff of Holy Family Nursing Home over the many years.
