PETER BERG (BOB) SMEDVIK Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on February 20, 2002, Peter (Bob) Berg Smedvik passed away at home as per his wishes, at the age of 68, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Kay in 1996; mother Margaret; father John; brother Jim and sister Ruth. Peter (Bob) was born in 1933 in Flin Flon, MB. At the age of six, he moved to Gimli. He joined the PPCLI at the age of 17, where he served for two years (tour duty Korea). Throughout his life, he was an extremely hard working person and a dedicated family man, who always put everyone else first. He helped everyone or anyone at any time. He worked in the transportation industry for the majority of his life where he made many friends and acquaintances. He met and married Kay at the age of 21. They enjoyed 42 happy years of marriage, which they were blessed with four children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. After the death of Kay, Peter met and married Zelda Wiebe. They shared a short but wonderful marriage, which only enlarged his family more with the addition of six stepchildren and ten more grandchildren. Peter leaves to cherish his memory, his second wife Zelda of four years; son John (Rosita), Krystyr, Kira, Charity, (Ashleigh) son Jeff (Lisa), Jason and Tamara; daughter Cyndee (Russ) Tyler, Kyle, Cole, Taylor; daughter Sandi, Shane, Ashleigh, Brianne; stepchildren, Lance, Faith, Steven, Joel, David and Michael. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Peters name, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
