ANDREW DYCK Andrew Dyck of Minnedosa, MB passed peacefully away at Minnedosa Hospital on February 14, 2002 after a short illness at the age of 82 years. Andrew was born at Lowe Farm, MB on September 18, 1919 where he spent his early years and attended school. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Dyck and his brother Jacob Dyck of Rivers, MB. He is survived by his wife Helen Dyck (nee Giesbrecht) of Rosenfeld, MB. Andy served in the Second World War in the R.C.A.F. from 1943 to 1945. In 1946 he married Helen and they lived in Lowe Farm. He started a trucking business and later bought a farm in Rivers, MB. He joined the R.C.A.F. and served in Canada and France until 1970 when he took his retirement. Andy and his family lived in Winnipeg. St. Francois Xavier, Winnipeg Beach and resided in Minnedosa. During this time he worked on the Trans Canada pipeline in Western Canada, set up a crop spraying operation and later owned a trailer park in Minnedosa. Andy devoted his energies to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #138 and was a member of the Elks organization. His favourite activities were curling, golf, cribbage and meeting friends at the local coffee shop. Andy will be missed by his family, son Jack Van Dyck (Gail) daughter Carol Montoute (Kelvin) and daughter Iva (Malcolm) grandchildren, Lisa, Adam, Jill, Geoff and Richard; Great-grandson Joshua and his brother and sisters who reside in Manitoba. A cremation service was held at the Sparrow Funeral Chapel in Minnedosa, MB on Monday, February 18, 2002. Sparrow Funeral Service was in care of arrangements.
