Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE JEAN FANNING (nee CANNON) Suddenly, as a result of a car accident on February 16, 2002. Jessie was born April 4, 1980 in Belleville, ON. The beloved daughter of Dr. William (Bill) T. Cannon and Dawn E. Cannon, Jessie lived all her 21 years in Kingston, ON, marrying her loving husband Jeffery Robert Fanning, also of Kingston, on August 4, 2001, a scant six months prior to her death. At the time of her death, Jessie was a student at Queens University, in the final semester of her honours Arts program, majoring in psychology. Jessies pre-adolescent and teenage years were filled with a wealth of school and extra-curricular activities, travels, experiences, and challenges shaping the vibrant, accomplished young woman she became. Her interests spanned athletics, music, volunteer work, and her academic studies. She was an active participant in school sports, including playing on a city championship basketball team while at Kingston Collegiate Vocational Institute. Jessie was also a good skier and swimmer, athletic skills honed on family vacations. Her musical interests were expressed through her singing in the Frontenac Choristers Choir, her Rob Roy highland dancing, and her playing piano and clarinet. Jessie was also active in Air Cadets. Always a lover of children (and a person who had hoped to have many of her own), Jessie was a volunteer Cub leader. Also a lover of animals, Jessies households were a haven for her various dogs and cats. It was Jessies academic record at Queen Elizabeth Collegiate that created high hopes in family and friends for future achievements, as she pursued her goals to do research and teach. In her final year, Jessie earned the top school grade in four of her OAC courses, was an Ontario Scholar, and won several other scholarships and prizes. She was chosen valedictorian of her graduating class. Above all, Jessie will be remembered by her many friends and family for her grace and beauty, and her sunny and loving personality. She is survived by her husband Jeffery R. Fanning; her parents, Dawn E. Cannon and William T. Cannon (Tensia Jwo) sister Joan Cannon; grandmother Jean M. Cannon; aunt L. Louise Cannon; uncles, John E. Cannon (Beth) and William I. Clarke (Lyn), and cousins, Theresa, Scott, Sandi, Vicki, Krissy and Glen; as well as mother-in-law Debby L. Fanning and godmother Margaret L. Hooey. She was predeceased by her grandmother Jessie Clarke, and grandfather, Leslie A. Cannon. Her funeral was held February 21 in Kingston at Sydenham Street United Church.
