NORA EVALYN WHERRETT On February 25, 2002, at Oakview Place, Nora Evalyn Wherrett, beloved wife of the late James Charles Wherrett. She was 107 years of age, spending her entire life living in Manitoba. Born in Winnipeg on October 5, 1894, she was the youngest daughter of Joseph and Ida Benson. She graduated from St. Johns High School and was a member of the 1917 Class of Wesley College, where she met her husband. She was active in sports and took part in amateur theatrical performances for many years. Nora was a longtime member of Greenwood United Church, now McClure United. For many years she was a dedicated volunteer with "Save the Children" and Grace Hospital. Three daughters survive her: Josephine Annett (Toronto), Merle Wherrett (Toronto), and Audrey Mackenzie and son-in-law Ross Mackenzie (Winnipeg). She will be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to all the wonderful people at Oakview Place for their compassion and care during her 16 years there. A memorial service will be held at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Pl., on Thursday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Wendy Rankin officiating.
