STEPHANIA KLYMKIW Peacefully, with great dignity, surrounded in the love of her family, Mother passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2002. Mother was born January 23, 1910, in the village of Velekyj Hovyliv, Ukraine, to Anastasia and Martin Sidlowich. In 1926 at the age of 16 she came to Canada and resided initially with her uncle and aunt Michael and Mary Siwicki. She married Nykola Klymkiw on February 23, 1935 and together they worked to raise their family. Mother found her greatest joy in her family and most recently, in the arrival of her great-granddaughter. Her love of her home and garden was well known. Mother instilled in her family a love of Ukrainian music and culture and her sense of humour was contagious. She was the matriarch of her family and an anchor of support to her friends. Her love of people transcended all generations. Mother was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Brooklands Ladies Club. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Luba (Bob) Harasym; son Peter; daughter-in-law Claudia; grandchildren, Susan Harasym-Baranec (Joseph), Gregory Harasym (Tricia) Larissa Klymkiw; great-granddaughter Michelle; brother Wasyl; close family friend Dave Melanson; and her extended family in Canada and Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Nykola; sisters, Anne Evaniw and Julia Tabinska. Divine Liturgy was celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 1 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., with Rev. I. Dziadyk who officiated. Interment followed in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were her son Peter, grandchildren Susan Harasym-Baranec, Gregory Harasym, Larissa Klymkiw, nephew Oleh Klymkiw and son-in-law Bob Harasym. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of ones choice. We extend our appreciation to Drs. Babick, Alvi and Harris and the staff of Concordia Hospital for the kindness shown to Mother. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
