JACOB (JAKE) SIGVALDASON Jacob (Jake) Sigvaldason passed away at the Golden and District Hospital on February 25, 2002, at the age of 82 years. Jake was born in Vidir, MB on November 2, 1919. He grew up in Manitoba, and before moving to Golden in 1965, he worked in various farming implement dealerships as a mechanic. Jake enjoyed puttering around in his garage, fixing cars (he was especially proud of his old Ford Truck), being outside and playing crib. Jake was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Unnur; his wife Osk-Anna; one son-in-law Sam Bardarson; one grandson Shelby Fortin; two brothers, Elli and Kris; and one sister Gudrun. He is survived by six children, Carol Bardarson of Duncan, BC, Beverly (Barney) Einarson of Arborg, MB, Brian (Barb) Sigvaldason of Calgary, AB, Don (Jeanette) Sigvaldason of Sicamous, BC, Keith Sigvaldason of Golden, and Lois-Ann (David) Fortin of Calgary. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cheryl, David, Tammy; Sharon, Russell, Collin; Corey, Lisa, Tom; Lori, Troy, Tracy, Carrie; Tara; and Dustin; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Addie and Thruda. The funeral service will be held from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden on Friday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the family plot at the Golden Community Cemetery, with the grandchildren acting as pallbearers.
