HYMIE (CHINNY) PERLMUTTER It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Hymie (Chinny) Perlmutter on January 29, 2002. His beloved wife Thelma, his daughter Sheila and son Arie survive him. His brother Bert; sister-in-law Pearl; sister-in-law Marie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam and Boomy Roitman and Ed and Betty Baizer; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives, also survive him. He was born in Winnipeg in 1916. Together with his brothers, Morris and Jack, he operated City Bread until his retirement in 1977. As an avid advocate of physical fitness, he was an active member of the YMHA and The Rady Centre. He enjoyed sports, both as a participant and spectator. In his younger days, he played baseball and soccer. Later he bowled with the Recreation Bowling League and golfed at St. Boniface Golf Club where he made many friends. All who knew him spoke glowingly of his many attributes, his spontaneous sense of humour, his humility, sincerity, integrity, compassion and his willingness to assist others. He was a kind and gentle man who will be missed, but much revered in our memories. Funeral services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery with Rabbi Balser officiating. Pallbearers were his nephews, Martin Bricker, Laurie Goldberg, Bill Perlmutter, Steven Perlmutter, Shane Perlmutter and longtime friend Hersh Doctoroff. The family greatly appreciates all the kind support that has been given to us.
