Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL EVANECKY Peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2002 at St. Josephs Residence, Hazel Evanecky, aged 99. Hazel Bochnok was born in Dykiv Ukraine on April 3, 1902. She came to Canada and married Stanley Evanecky in 1927. They worked very hard in their early years in Canada and raised two beautiful daughters, Stella and Jennie. Hazel was employed at Hudsons Bay Company along with her husband for many years. She was also employed at Golden Restaurant on Selkirk Avenue cooking and catering fine Ukrainian dishes. She was a member of St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. She leaves to mourn her daughter Stella Kidd; four grandchildren, Ken and wife Elaine of West Vancouver, BC, Donna and husband Sid of Pitt Meadows, BC, Gary and wife Diane and Richard, all of Winnipeg and three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina and Nicole, all of Pitt Meadows, BC. Hazel was predeceased by her family in Ukraine; her husband Stanley and daughter Jennie. Hazel was lovingly known as Baba and was loved by all who knew her. She was cherished by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Baba loved to garden and cook and spend time with her family. She was blessed with good health and lived a very full life. Prayers will be Thursday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Fr. Mikhail Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken, Gary and Richard and Sid Hamdon. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Josephs Residence Inc., 1149 Leila Ave. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Babick and head nurse Shirley Michler and her very caring staff at St. Josephs Residence for the tender, loving care Baba received in the last few years of her life.
